Steelcase Amia
The Steelcase Amia chair is the lesser-known little brother of the Steelcase Leap v2. Don’t let that designation fool you – the Amia is still a stellar chair that many consider to be more of a “side-grade” to the Steelcase Leap v2. Here’s a quick run down of the differneces between the Steelcase Leap v2 and Steelcase Amia:
While the Steelcase Leap v2 allows you to lock the chair at 5 different points, the Steelcase Amia provides a binary lock, allowing you to lock yourself upright or not at all. This quickly becomes a non-issue if you increase the back-force tension on either chair, effectively creating an “auto-lock” function. .
While both the Steelcase Leap v2 and the Steelcase Amia chairs have adjustable seat pans, the Steelcase Leap’s seat pan will automatically move forward as you recline, increasing comfort in the recline position. The Amia, however, will have a thicker seat pad than that of the Leap.
The Steelcase Leap v2 will have a much more severe lumbar support system compared to that of the Steelcase Amia. Some may find the Leap’s lumbar system too aggressive. The Amia’s Lumbar system is less “in your face,” though it still certainly makes its presence known.
